“Excellent engineering is not about technical proficiency. It’s all about building the right thing.”

Troels Tophøj

VP of Product & Engineering

Troels Tophøj leads Product and Engineering at Mover. He makes sure the company’s commercial goals, product goals, and engineering efforts are all moving in the same direction. His core focus is maximizing the impact Mover has on our customers. He brings a product-led-growth mindset to Mover, and a sharper focus on data and AI – both in the product and in AI-assisted engineering. “Excellent engineering is not about technical proficiency,” he says. “It’s all about building the right thing.”

Before Mover, Troels was VP of Data at the Danish maritime software scale-up ZeroNorth, where he spent 5 years building the customer onboarding, Data Engineering and AI / ML foundations behind the ZeroNorth maritime optimization platform. Despite the technical depth of that background, he describes himself as extremely commercially focused on customer value and impact above all else:

“whatever I do must, in the end, bring real tangible value to my customers.”

That shows up in how he spends a lot of his time now – engaging directly with customers both new and old, to understand their businesses and challenges closely enough to know what’s actually worth building.

Outside of work, Troels' time belongs almost entirely to his three young children who keep the calendar full. What's left over goes to his long-standing love for track-and-field, a sport he has stayed close to since childhood, his garden, especially a small collection of orchids, and reading – a habit that gets him through ten books a year. It adds up to a life outside Mover that mirrors the one inside it – focused, a little relentless, and built around the things that matter most.
